Au revoir 2023

I have been back in Paris for a month now. Working for my new job at an international organization and living in my fabulous apartment. Everything feels magical, and I know, “honeymoon period” blah blah blah, but I’m so happy I don’t care.

With my new job a certain level of discretion is required, and I am nothing if not discreet. Just ask the hundreds of closeted male celebrities and athletes I’ve hooked up with over the years. I digress, my new job, the work and my colleagues are all amazing. I’m incredibly happy here and hope I can work here for a long time. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about my colleagues as we travel and bond over the upcoming months. I must admit that I’m surprised that English is the predominant language in the office, but it encourages me to use as much French as possible and when applicable.

Aside from the awesome job, I’ve got my new French bank account, phone number, and happy to see my old friends more regularly again. I’ve been incredibly lucky that I have already made new friends here, spending Xmas together and hanging out has been delightful. Being away from friends and family in the states, it was nice to have the support here.

Unfortunately while out the other night, we were attacked and got beat up pretty badly, but luckily we are all OK. Just a few concussions, and cuts. The police have already caught the guys who did this so now just have to wait until the court date. I did get stitches in my forehead, so that’s something. Sadly, the concussion is pretty strong and I get dizzy when standing up, laying down and closing my eyes…so I’m gonna have to miss my first New Year’s Eve parties in Paris. I did make the black eyed peas for January first, so that’s something.

I really am incredibly happy to be back in Paris, permanently. Surrounded by gorgeous architecture, historical significance in almost everything and I’m able to walk 30,000 steps a day. I’m looking forward to whatever 2024 brings. (Except the Paris olympics, but if you’re looking for an apartment to rent, hit me up!)

With that, I say au revoir 2023 et bienvenue 2024.
