Bonjour les amis. Comment ça va? 14 July is la Fête nationale, le 14 juillet or better known in English speaking countries as Bastille Day.
This day commemorates the Storming of the Bastille(July 14, 1789), an event marked a major turning point of the French Revolution, where the French people of economic levels below the nobility took up arms and stormed the Bastille. The Bastille was a prison which often would hold political prisoners whose works criticized the royal government.
One year later on 14 July 1790, the Fête de la Fédération was held to celebrate the unity of the French nation during the French Revolution. The importance of this celebration was to symbolize the Peace throughout the country, and to political observers around the world.
Although many years have passed since that historic night, the blood of those people who stood up to injustice still runs through the veins of their descendants. France is such an incredible country for so many reasons, this is just one small event that has happened to establish, what I believe to be, one of the greatest countries in the world.
