World AIDS Day

Today is 1 December 2017, World AIDS Day. Today marks 29 years of bringing HIV and AIDS to global attention. This horrible pandemic must come to an end, and hopefully we are getting there. With so many advances in HIV prevention, I have no doubt that there will be a cure by the end of the century.

If you don’t know about PrEP or PEP, read my blog post about it here.

If you need assistance paying for PrEP, click this link to get a free card with $3,600 worth of Truvada each year.

So many people have been devastated by AIDS, so many lives taken too soon. Many younger people don’t know what it was like in the 1980s, watching helplessly as your friends and loved ones were dying from some unknown virus. Even I am too young to know what that was like. But I can imagine how terrifying it must have been. The good news now is that HIV is manageable. Similar to Diabetes, you take your medication, see a health care provider regularly and you can live a long, healthy & happy life.

So: get tested, know your status, and stay healthy.

Much love,
Kevin N Gavit
