Travels

I have decided to make Bangkok Thailand the destination of my birthday celebrations this year. Originally my husband and I were going to spend the two weeks in Korea, however my husband is too worried about the Coronavirus or COVID-19 and how fast it is spreading in all of Korea. He is still scheduled to spend a month with his family there, but that may change if no improvements have been made on the virus.

When I think of Thailand, The King and I (1956 film) is the absolute first thing that comes to mind. Yul Brynner & Deborah Kerr, two fantastic actors and a wonderful movie. I’m somewhat ashamed to admit that the second thing that comes to mind is the song “One Night in Bangkok” by Murray Head. It’s not really something to be ashamed of, but it’s not as classy as The King and I.

So, the plan is as follows: Flight on Korean Air with a layover in Seoul, arriving in Bangkok on 23 April 2020 around 9pm local time. Make my way to the luxurious hotel that has a bar, restaurant, rooftop swimming pool, gorgeous panoramic views of the city, and more. Over the course of two weeks I intend to explore all Thailand has to offer, along with a trip to Angkor Wat in Cambodia and a few days in Vietnam too. My return flight is scheduled to depart on 05 May 2020 just before midnight with another layover in Seoul.

The Coronavirus or COVID-19 is spreading more and unfortunately I have no idea what kind of travel restrictions will be put in place over the next two months. I can only hope that a cure and/vaccine is found and this will subside. Me, being as optimistic as ever, have high hopes for the future. If any of my readers have ideas or advice for my Birthday extravaganza in Bangkok, please either leave a comment below or send me an email here.
